Post MLK Jr. Day 2018 Program

On behalf of the Reverend Lyndon A. Myers, Pastor, Andover Baptist Church, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the Andover and extended community for coming out to help make our 2018 event a huge success!

This year's event helped to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the inception of the "King Center for Nonviolent Social Change."

Our day consisted of a program featuring Ms. Carole Copeland Thomas, as our keynote speaker.  Carole has been featured in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Black Enterprise, ABC Radio and CBS News. She is the author of four books and is the Past National Vice Chair of the National Black MBA Association.  We featured performances by musical artists who blessed us with uplifting gospel musical selections, and a dance performance by our own ABC Liturgical Dancers along with an outstanding Oratory performance by Andover Baptist Churchs' own Mr. Ralph Bledsoe - all followed by a delicious Southern-styled Meal served in our Fellowship Hall.

Our theme this year is 'Forward - Together with Love for Humanity' ... imploring us all to never forget and to move forward together to become the change we want to see.

Post MLK Jr. Day 2018 Program

On Monday, January 15, 2018, Andover Baptist Church JOYFULLY celebrated our 11th Annual MLK Unity Program and Luncheon honoring the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The celebration was filled with a Thought-Provoking program that included a dynamic keynote speaker; featured local gospel artist who blessed us with their musical performances and an outstanding recitation of MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech Powerfully delivered by Mr. Ralph Bledsoe of Andover Baptist Church. The program culminated with a delicious, Soulful, Southern Meal served in our Fellowship Hall.

Our theme was: Forward Together with Love for Humanity;" based on Dr. King’s vision to unite us in love, and peace for ALL humanity, which is greater and more powerful than divides us.  This message is more important than ever given the strife and divisiveness that is affecting our communities.  How do “we” (Andover) build a community where we all feel safe, heard and valued?

Our event keynote speaker was The Ms. Carole Copeland Thomas, award-winning speaker, trainer and global thought leader.

Our Musical Guests included:

  • Eric Lindahl and the Choral Majority
  • Temple Emanuel - Cantor Idan Irelander
  • Andover Baptist Church Unity Choir, led by Michael Belcher, Music Minister, ABC
